Hey mamas! (After you read this post and order this ah-mazing makeup you’ll be hot mamas! Woot woot!)
Makeup is one of those things that women say they either love or hate. I tend to be somewhere in the middle….I love looking good, I mean, who doesn’t? What I don’t love is totally covering up my face and spending half an hour doing it. So, what’s a girl to do? Enter Maskcara Makeup! Today, I’m going to tell you all about this amazing makeup line and give my honest review of it. And…..wait for it……share some before and after pictures from my makeover using only this makeup!
I can’t really get into this post without also introducing you to my friend, Jessica. Jessica is a busy, work from home mama to three super-cute boys. Jess is the one that introduced me to this amazing makeup and gave me this awesome makeover. She is full of beauty tips (not just Maskcara and Lipsense related) and is so encouraging of all women. She currently sells both Maskcara and Lipsense and is 100% deserving of your business (should you decide to give them a try). We mamas gotta support each other! Jess has a Facebook group where she shares all her makeup tricks and tips and even promotes other mamas in their endeavors. Seriously, the coolest. You can join her group, Lovely Southern HERE or follow her on Instagram HERE.
What is Maskcara makeup?
Maskcara makeup is an awesome, easy to use makeup line created by the super cute makeup blogger, Cara. You’ve probably seen her on Pinterest. You can read her story HERE.
“You’re face isn’t one dimensional, so your face shouldn’t be either!” This is one of first things I heard when introduced to this makeup. Rather than one color for your foundation, Maskcara makeup has a foundation palettes that include FOUR different colors for your face. The four colors will depend on your natural coloring, but should include a highlight, a contour, a blush and an illuminator. Using all four of these colors on your face, rather than one color, will allow you to accentuate your NATURAL beauty. Not cover it up.
One more added bonus to their palettes? They have ready-to-go palettes AND custom palettes! When you order a full palette, you get a free totally gorgeous compact. And when you run out of one color, you can buy a replacement single without buying a palette all over again.
Maskcara makeup also has several eye shadow colors (which can be put in a pretty compact palette too), makeup removing wipes, a heavenly moisturizer, setting spray and several super-soft brushes. Basically all of their products are to die for.
Here’s some beautiful photos of their palettes and compacts. Feast your eyes on these beauties! Also shown are their awesome skin care products.
So how do you actually apply this make up?
Highlighting and contouring (also known as HAC)….eek! That’s enough to make a grown woman think she should cry. It sounds and seems super intimidating. But guess what? Maskcara makes it super easy and, dare I say it….fun! Here’s a nifty little how-to HAC picture that lays it all out.
Another helpful tip with you are HAC-ing? Think about where the light naturally hits your face and highlight there. Do the same thing with where there’s natural shadowing and contour. Easy peasy, lemon breezy!
Alright, you’re interested but not willing to commit because it’s probably crazy expensive. Right?? Wrong!
Guess what? Maskcara makeup is actually more affordable than you’d think. If you’re using drug store brands, it might seem a little more expensive, but because a little goes a long way with Maskcara makeup, so it’s lasting longer and saving money. And if you’re buying department store, Ulta brands or designer makeup, you’re about to save some moola! Here’s a cool picture that breaks it all down for you.
Alright, Maskcara has your face and eyes covered, but what about your lips??
Oh, I’m so glad you asked, mama! Enter, Lipsense! Lipsense is a super awesome lipstick that says on all day without ever rubbing off. It is perfect for mamas that love kissing their kiddos chubby cheeks. And your husband won’t mind, either! The price tag might scare you a little at first, but because it lasts all day, you’re not having to reapply and use up your lipstick. The company claims that you get 4x more in Lipsense than you do in a traditional lip stick. Say what?!
The other cool thing with Lipsense? You can mix colors. Holla! I love being able to find a happy medium between a dark and a neutral or girly pink without having to buy a whole other color. Awesome-ness. In addition to your colors, you’ll want a gloss to go over and seal the color in and then the Lispense remover.
The moment you’ve all been waiting for….Before and Afters!
Here’s my somewhat awkward, super-close-up selfies for Maskcara! Jessica had her work cut out for her on the day of the makeover….I started a new birth control a few days early and it resulted in a mega chin breakout. Awkward. But, as you can see in the photos below, this makeup provided great coverage! So, if you have acne or have that lovely, once-a-month breakout, Maskcara will cover up those flaws that you don’t love and accentuate your natural and inner beauty.
I love how this makeup looks and feels while on. It gives coverage and that perfect dewy glow that we all want to have. It also feels really lightweight, rather than caked on. I do have to admit, that it felt a little weird going on because it’s all cream based, but that passed quickly.
In the after makeover photo, I am wearing Pink Champagne by Lipsense. It’s so pretty for daytime and casual use. I love it and wear it almost daily.
Before you see all these selfies, I have to put it out there that I really don’t like selfies. I feel awkward in them and I’m pretty sure that it shows in the pictures. Oh well, here we go anyways!
Ready to see my more dramatic Lipsense color? It’s Mulled Wine and gorgeous. I love it for date night and evening events. In this photo, I’m wearing it for my fifth wedding anniversary.
And last but not least, my two Lipsense colors combined! I sometimes where this for daytime use, but I love it for church or girls night or something like that.
So, there you have it! The BEST make up for busy moms!
I love all of this makeup so much! I can’t recommend it enough! If you are ready to take the plunge, head over to Maskcara Makeup and order your makeup! Not sure what colors to pick? Join Jessica’s group, send her a makeup free selfie (in good light) and have her color match you! She’s pretty dang good at it.
Another perk to joining Lovely Southern? You can browse all of her before and after makeover pictures! And, you’ll be in the know for giveaways…how doesn’t love that?! It’s so fun!

One more thing before you go….
Okay, I thought I was done with this post, then I remembered that Jess gave me the best piece of skin care advice and it has seriously saved me. I HAVE to share! When she first introduced me to Lipsense, she recommend using Thayer’s Witch Hazel on my lips before applying. I bought it off of Amazon and immediately fell in love. It makes my face and lips so clean and soft. But that’s not the real reason I really love it is because it is literally erasing my skin blemishes.
Four years ago, during my first pregnancy, I had a spot show up on my right cheek. No matter what I did it stuck around. I got used to it and lost track of time until about six months ago when I was looking at pictures and realized it’s still around. What the what?! I put “go to dermatologist” on my never-ending to-do list and moved on with life. Well, after a month of using Thayer’s Witch Hazel on my face, THE SPOT IS FADING! Color me a believer.
If you get nothing else from this post, buy and use this witch hazel. It’s a game changer for sure.
See you next week, mamas!
