Recently, I shared how to find your mom support group, but what if you’re on the other side of that. You’ve got a support group. Well, you, mama, you need to be reaching out an supporting the other mamas around you. This may put you out of your comfort zone, but it is so important. One of God’s commandments is to love others. If we apply this to our motherhood, it makes sense that we would need to support each other.
But how? How do we support other mamas? I’m going to share three ways that you can support other mamas TODAY. Literally, today. My challenge (yep, I’m issuing a challenge at the beginning of the post) to you, is to do one of these things today. Or really anything you can come up with to support another mom. Just do it. I know that God will bless you for your efforts to raise another mother up.
So, here’s my list. See what appeals to you!
1. Show support by participating in a local moms group.
I realize that this falls in with how to find your mom support group, but it also goes perfectly with supporting other moms. When you participate in a local moms group, you support the mom that took the time and effort to organize the group and events. It also gives you the opportunity to fellowship moms that may be new to the group. So, when you go to the group, make an effort to seek out the moms that you don’t know. Maybe you’ll meet your new best friend!
2. Send support in a message, text or card.
Take a minute today to send a text, card or message to one of your mom friends. It doesn’t have to be long and eloquent. Just let her know that you’re thinking of her. Let her know that she matters and that you care about her! Who wouldn’t love that?? You don’t even have to make plans to get together. Something like this is literally a no brainer. So just do it. It’s so simple.
3. Pray for inspiration and follow it.
This one is a bit tougher. Pray to God for guidance and inspiration in how to support a fellow mama. Then follow that inspiration. If we don’t follow through, there’s no point in praying about it. Maybe there’s a local mom friend that is going through a really tough time, but not broadcasting it for all of social media to know about? Guess what….God knows. And, if we are open to His direction, He can inspire us to drop by with a meal or nice card. And that can make such a difference to a sick mama or one dealing with a death or heartache. You really never know, so pray and be open to inspiration from God. And follow through!!
I realize this seems like a really simple, little list. But, guess what…..supporting other mamas is simple. It doesn’t have to be some big, outlandish act of service to be worthwhile.
Seriously, just take a few minutes and lift another mama the way you want to be lifted up. That’s really all the matters. As you do this, you will be blessed in your motherhood. I also believe that doing this will set a great example for your children as well. Teach them through example!
So, mamas, what are you going to do today to uplift and support another mama? Share in the comments!
